At DispellingMisconceptions.com, we believe that there is one God, and that He is sovereign, the highest authority, ruling over all, and perfectly complete within Himself. God is whole, indivisible, and without parts; therefore, it is impossible for Him to become misaligned.
We believe that man was made in the image of God. Like God, man is spirit; however, unlike God, man has parts. Man possesses spirit, soul, and body, and because he has parts, those parts can become unaligned. What is believed in the mind, desired in the soul, and expressed through the body can fall out of order. Much of human struggle comes from this inward misalignment.
We believe many people have never been taught this, and as a result, they do not understand why they struggle within themselves, why their thoughts, desires, and actions conflict, or why they do not live in proper order.
We believe life on earth is probationary, a time of testing and proving, in which a person’s true condition is revealed, corrected, and strengthened over time, bringing about transformation.
We believe God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. Within man there is both an earthly nature and a spiritual nature, and these are contrary to one another. The spiritual nature is to govern the fleshly nature according to divine order. Therefore, man was not created to be led by the flesh, but to live under the rule of that which is spiritual, heavenly, and true.
We believe that a person’s outward life is shaped by what has first been formed inwardly. Thoughts, beliefs, and what is allowed into the heart ultimately determine behavior. Therefore, the issue is not simply what a person does, but what is shaping who they are from within.
We believe that much of human struggle comes from misunderstanding, especially from accepting partial truth as though it were the whole. A measure of truth, taken out of context, can support what is false. In this way, deception often feels reasonable, because part of it is true, while what is missing leads to error.
We believe that God does not seek to control man by force, but works in harmony with the will, leading through truth. In contrast, the enemy seeks to influence and distort by gaining agreement within the mind and planting what is false in the inward parts.
We believe that responsibility rests within each individual. What a person becomes is not determined by outward circumstances alone, but by what they accept, believe, and allow to take root within them.
We believe that a vice is not the beginning of the problem, but the result of repeated agreement with what is not true. What is practiced outwardly has first been established inwardly. Behavior is not the root; it is the fruit.
We believe that guilt and shame, when misunderstood, keep a person in bondage by leading them to hide what must be brought into the light. What is hidden continues to operate, but what is brought into the light can be addressed and changed.
We believe that condemnation and conviction are not the same. Condemnation attacks the person, while conviction addresses the issue. God does not reject the person because of the struggle, but He does not accept what is wrong within them.
We believe that true freedom is not found in suppressing behavior, but in addressing the root. Deliverance begins when a person sees clearly, separates their identity from their behavior, and breaks agreement with what is not true.
We believe that truth is not defined by feeling, opinion, or personal reasoning, but is revealed by God through His Word. As it is written, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Through the daily reading and understanding of God’s Word, the mind is renewed, false thinking is corrected, and a life grounded in truth is established.
We believe that what has been formed through repeated agreement with error can be undone through repeated agreement with truth. What has become unaligned within can, through truth and submission to God, be brought back into right order.
Our purpose is to make truth plain, expose misunderstanding, and bring clarity to what has been misinterpreted, so that individuals may come into inward alignment and walk in truth and freedom.
